The Cathedral Scroll Panel

The beautiful and unique panel has the grace of iron railing with the body and substance of wood.  Yet it will not rust like iron, or rot and twist like wood. The Cathedral Scroll panel design is what launched The Porch Store.  We designed this railing for a client that wanted a beautiful but different railing that would be easily maintained.

Our panels are designed to work with a variety of railing systems. Depending on the system you choose, plan on adding approximately 7″ to the panel height to determine your finished railing height (typically between 30″ and 42″).

Our panels are CNC-cut from 1″ or 1.25″ thick solid cellular PVC. They have the look and feel of painted wood—not the thin or hollow feel often associated with many synthetic products—while offering exceptional durability without the concerns of rot, insect damage, or warping.

Material Information

Our white panels are manufactured from Versatex® sheet goods.

Because our panels are cut from solid sheets of cellular PVC, the interior core of the material may vary slightly in color from the finished exterior surface. This core becomes visible along the cut edges of the panel design, and the variation may be more noticeable on 1.25″ thick panels.

In most cases, this color variation is subtle and not considered objectionable. However, if you prefer a perfectly uniform appearance, the panels can be painted. Exterior-grade paint bonds exceptionally well to cellular PVC and, unlike painted wood, requires very little maintenance over time.

Black PVC Options

If you’re looking for black panels, you have two options:

• Black PVC Panels: We offer panels manufactured from black PVC. Like most dark-colored exterior materials, prolonged exposure to direct sunlight may cause the color to fade over time. If desired, the panels can simply be painted years down the road to restore their appearance.
• Painted White PVC Panels: You may also purchase our white PVC panels and paint them black prior to installation. This allows you to choose your preferred paint system from the start while achieving the same finished look.

TimberTech® Rail Compatibility

Whether you choose our 1″ or 1.25″ thick panels, both are compatible with the TimberTech® top and bottom rail system that we sell. If you select a 1.25″ thick panel, simply choose the “Yes, mill down edges” option in the dropdown menu, and we’ll machine the small grooves required along the top edge to ensure a smooth fit.

Curbside Delivery is our standard method of shipment. You are required to meet the semi-truck in front of your home or at the closest point of access to your home, and you are responsible for receiving the product from the truck. Alternatively, the panels may be picked up by the client at the shipper’s local terminal.
